Tier 2 Maternity Hub breaks ground in Borno State
Construction has begun on CARE AFRICA's first Maternity Hub in Borno State, following a successful partnership with the Maiduguri Community Women's Alliance and co-funding from a London-based diaspora foundation. The hub is expected to be operational by November 2026, serving a population of 8,400 people who currently have no trained birth attendant within 25km.
Dutse Full Hub serves 500 people on its first day
The Jigawa Community Hub in Dutse opened its doors to a community of over 12,000 on 14 July 2026 — and served 510 visitors in its first 10 hours of operation. The maternity clinic registered 22 pregnant women for antenatal care, the digital classroom enrolled 38 students for its first cohort, and 17 businesses were inducted into the enterprise zone.
CARE AFRICA signs MOU with Kebbi State Government for 4-hub rollout
CARE AFRICA and the Kebbi State Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deploy four Smart Hubs across the state over 18 months. The agreement includes co-investment from the state government, land allocation in four LGAs, and the secondment of eight state health workers to the hub teams.
