Transparency

Every naira. Every pound.
Publicly tracked.

CARE AFRICA was built on a radical premise: development finance should be as transparent as a bank statement. Every pound raised, every naira spent, every outcome achieved is published publicly β€” without exception.

02 β€” How Transparency Works

Three principles we never compromise on

01

Public by default

Every programme outcome, financial allocation and audit report is published publicly. We do not maintain private dashboards β€” all data is available to all.

02

Independently audited

Our accounts are audited annually by a UK-registered independent firm and submitted to the Charity Commission. Nigeria operations are audited separately by a Lagos-based firm.

03

Community-verified

Impact data is not just reported by CARE AFRICA β€” it is verified by community leaders, local government officials and independent field monitors in each LGA.

03 β€” Audit & Governance

Our governance structure

CARE AFRICA is governed by a Board of Trustees with independent non-executive members. An Audit & Risk Committee meets quarterly and reports to the full board.

Board of Trustees

7 trustees including 3 independent non-executives. Chaired by a former DFID Director. Meets quarterly in London and virtually.

Audit & Risk Committee

3-person independent committee with full access to accounts, field data and programme records. Reports publicly in Annual Report.

External Auditors

UK accounts audited by Grant Thornton UK LLP. Nigeria operations audited by KPMG Nigeria. Both audit reports published in full.
