When crisis hits β
CARE AFRICA responds
Nigeria faces floods, disease outbreaks, displacement, and food crises every year. Communities without a support network face these alone. CARE AFRICA hub communities are never alone β our emergency response is always on.
01 β What We Respond To
Five emergency categories. One response system.
CARE AFRICA's emergency programme is pre-positioned to respond to the full range of crises that affect Nigerian communities.
Floods & Environmental Disasters
Nigeria's flood season displaces millions annually β particularly in Benue, Kogi, Anambra, and Bayelsa. CARE AFRICA coordinates emergency shelter, food, and health response for affected communities.
Disease Outbreaks
Cholera, meningitis, Lassa fever, and measles outbreaks require rapid public health response. CARE AFRICA hubs serve as outbreak detection points and community health response centres.
Displacement & Refugee Support
Conflict-related displacement in the North East and North West requires immediate food, shelter, and health support. CARE AFRICA partners with UNHCR and IDP camp managers for coordinated response.
Food Crises
Acute food insecurity β from drought, conflict, or economic collapse β triggers CARE AFRICA food distribution, kitchen support, and nutrition assessment at hub level.
Security Emergencies
In communities facing security threats, CARE AFRICA coordinates safe evacuation routes, temporary shelter at hubs, community protection alerts, and liaison with security agencies.
