Functional Literacy
Reading, writing, and numeracy in your local language — Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, or Pidgin — then transitioning to English. Practical literacy that applies to daily life, not abstract classroom learning.
Digital Skills
How to use a smartphone. How to access government services online. How to use mobile banking. WhatsApp literacy. The CARE AFRICA platform itself. Skills that open doors in modern Nigeria.
Vocational Training
Tailoring, soap-making, food processing, small-scale construction, healthcare assistant skills, and agricultural techniques — certified vocational programmes tied to market demand in the community.
Business & Financial Literacy
How to register a business. How to keep simple accounts. How to access microfinance. Cooperative models. Tax basics. Market pricing. Skills that turn a trade into a sustainable income.
Agricultural Education
Soil science, crop rotation, organic fertiliser, irrigation, post-harvest handling, and cooperative farming. Taught in the community farm attached to the hub — learning by doing.
Health & Nutrition Education
Maternal nutrition, child health, hygiene, sanitation, disease prevention, and first aid. Community health education delivered by CHWs — critical knowledge for families without healthcare access.
Who is this programme for?
Women never enrolled in school
Particularly in Northern Nigeria where female enrolment has historically been very low — this programme is designed first for them.
Men who left school early
Early school leavers who need literacy, digital, and business skills to compete in a changing economy.
Elderly community members
Literacy and digital skills are not just for the young. Older adults gain confidence, independence, and the ability to access healthcare and government services.
Returnee migrants
Nigerians returning from abroad or from urban areas who need formal skills certification for employment or self-employment.
IDPs and displaced persons
Internally displaced persons receive education continuity — literacy and skills training while they cannot access formal employment or schools.

Assessment & Grouping
A short informal assessment places you in the right learning group — not to exclude you, but to ensure sessions match your level and you learn at the right pace.
Attend Sessions
Evening and weekend sessions so working adults can attend. Sessions are in your local language. Small groups of 10–15 learners. No pressure. No shame. Practical, applied learning.
Track Your Progress
Your progress is recorded on the CARE AFRICA platform. You can see what you have learned, what is next, and share your progress with family. Offline-capable so no internet needed.
Earn a Certificate
CARE AFRICA adult education certificates are recognised by partner businesses, cooperatives, and government programmes. Vocational certificates align with national standards.
Progress to Business or Employment
Graduates are referred into the CARE AFRICA business support programme, cooperative networks, scholarship opportunities for their children, and employment pathways.
Teaching in Your Language
Local Language First
All foundational literacy is taught in the community language — Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, or Pidgin. English is introduced progressively, not immediately.
Dual Language Materials
All textbooks and learning materials are produced in both the local language and English — side by side. No one is left behind due to language.
