01 β Scholarship Types
Five awards. Every stage of education.
From primary school through university and vocational training β CARE AFRICA scholarships support Nigerian students at every level.
Primary Excellence Award
For pupils in Primary 4β6 scoring in the top 15% of their CARE AFRICA Smart School. Covers school materials, uniforms, and feeding for one academic year.
Secondary Advancement Grant
For JSS and SSS students demonstrating academic excellence and financial need. Covers school fees, WAEC registration, and study materials for up to three years.
University Pathway Scholarship
For JAMB candidates and undergraduate students at Nigerian universities. Covers tuition, accommodation allowance, and laptop support for the full degree programme.
Vocational Skills Bursary
For young Nigerians aged 16β30 enrolling in accredited vocational or technical training β welding, tailoring, ICT, electrical, plumbing, catering. Full fees covered.
Special Needs Support Grant
For children and young adults with physical, sensory, or learning disabilities. Covers assistive devices, specialist school fees, and therapy sessions.
02 β How It Works
Four steps from application to award
Apply
Submit an application through the CARE AFRICA platform, your Smart School, or any hub. Applications open three times a year β January, May, and September.
Review
Applications are assessed by our scholarship panel against academic performance, financial need, and community standing. All decisions within 21 days.
Donor Match
Approved candidates are matched to a donor β an individual, a diaspora family, or a corporate sponsor. Donors receive the student's profile and update reports.
Award & Tracking
Funds are paid directly to the institution. Students are tracked termly β results, attendance, and wellbeing reported to donors and the CARE AFRICA scholarship team.
03 β Eligibility Criteria
Who can apply
We want as many students as possible to benefit. Our criteria are clear, fair, and consistently applied.
Academic Performance
Students must be in the top 30% of their year group, confirmed by their CARE AFRICA Smart School or verified school records.
Financial Need
Household income assessed during application. Priority is given to families earning below β¦80,000 per month.
Nigerian Citizenship
All applicants must be Nigerian citizens enrolled in a Nigerian institution. Diaspora children of Nigerian heritage may apply for the University Pathway award.
Community Engagement
Students must reside in or attend a CARE AFRICA community or Smart School. No community registration? Apply and we will fast-track your community's onboarding.
04 β For Donors
Fund a scholarship β know exactly where your money goes
Every CARE AFRICA scholarship donor receives the student's profile, termly progress reports, and a direct channel to communicate with the school. Zero overhead taken from student funds.
Individual Donor
Fund one student for one year. Receive their results, photos, and a thank-you letter at year end. Personal and direct.
